Five Years of AB Studio - and an Award-Winning Milestone
This year marks five years since I founded our design studio, what a whirlwind of emotions this journey has been. Today, I’m beyond delighted to share that we have won the “Interior Design Scheme London” award at the Design et Al Awards.
Being shortlisted in three categories, including “Designer of the Year”, already felt like such an achievement, but to actually take home a win was truly surreal. Every morning I wake up grateful that I get to do what I genuinely love: creating beautiful homes. To then be recognised by the industry makes it all the more special.
We are incredibly proud of this recognition and endlessly grateful to our wonderful clients who have trusted our vision from the very beginning. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our contractors, the brilliant architect who helped bring this project to life, and our photographer, who captured it so beautifully. And, of course, to my incredible team: your talent, dedication, and creativity are the reason for our success. I’m so thankful we get to share this recognition together.
Here it is: our award-winning 6,500 sq. ft. Edwardian home in North London, where French elegance meets English charm in a timeless “French Edwardian” design. Every detail was carefully considered to create a home that feels both refined and inviting.
The design concept begins with a backdrop of crisp off-white plasterwork, elaborate cornices and intricate mouldings, setting a bright and sophisticated tone. This is grounded by warm chevron flooring reminiscent of Parisian interiors. Layered with contemporary furnishings and sculptural lighting, the scheme creates an interplay between historical elegance and modern refinement.
One of the standout spaces is the formal reception room, redefined with a striking fireplace wall flanked by bespoke cabinetry. A discreet pocket door was introduced, seamlessly connecting the reception room to the kitchen and enhancing both flow and functionality. This balance of form and function is at the heart of the project.
Drawing inspiration from the home’s proximity to Hampstead Heath, we introduced natural elements throughout. Exotic timbers, distinctive stones, and a serene colour palette echo the surrounding landscape. A deep blue, reflecting the nearby lakes and ponds, became a signature tone within the home, while abstract landscape paintings, elegantly displayed in floating frames, add depth and artistry, particularly in the dining room.
Finally, thank you to everyone who voted for us and to all who have been following our journey. We look forward to continuing this exciting chapter with you.
